I am a graphic artist for a newspaper in Canada.. I’ve only been there for a couple of years, but the work is really fun.
I don’t have a degree – just natural talent, the ability to learn quickly, and willingness to work hard. Wages are shite, but I do get paid just as much as anyone else doing my job, and most of them do have some post-secondary training at least.
So if you can get your foot in the door, it can be very enjoyable work. And I would say how good the graphic design business is probably varies greatly according to the area you are in.. I think in bigger centres it can be pretty lucrative…
