I am a H.S.resident having moved here 3 yrs ago. There are great spas, but all are expensive.Downtown buildings are interesting but very much a tourist trap,H,S, is very spread out,you do need private trans. There is the Oaklawn race track, even out of season they have betting/machines.Best BBQ restr. is Stubby's about a block up from the track.Take the auto/boat tour, not the special $4.00 adv. one but the other, they will show you sights & take you onto Lake Hamilton,it's fun!If you can take a side trip to old Washington on #30 west, about 50 mi.from H,S. for a historical day trip, don't miss the Tavern restr. there & all the history that abounds,it is well worth going to. I often take friends/family there & Washington is very much enjoyed it is also 9 mi.from Hope,Pres.Clinton's birthplace.

  3. Make sure you take the mineral baths and get a massage at the Buckstaff. Go early in the day, like when they first open, or the lines back up.

It is really cheap for what you get. Also, tour the Bathhouse museum in the old Fordyce Bath House.

If you like old hotels, the Park Hotel has been renovated. I really liked it.
