  1. you’ll be amazed at what cats can do. Just be sure that when you are reunited, you microchip and vaccinate him because he could have picked up worms, viruses, fleas or tics during those months away from home.

  3. Lots of things can happen to have him travel a long way.

    For starters, someone might have picked him up while traveling, and then surrendered him when they got where they were going (pretty dumb thing for them to do, but it happens).

    I’ve also seen cases where a cat crawls under a car’s hood, and then someone drives off with the cat in there. The cat (if smart) stays put until the car stops, and hops out on the other side, now totally lost.

    Its also possible that you have a neighbor that doesn’t like your cat very much, and drove him out of town.

    Last, consider the possibility that this might not be your cat. I’ve heard owners positive that a certain cat was theirs, only to find out later that there is no possiblity that this was their cat (either wrong sex, or wrong timeline, etc). Without a tattoo or microchip, you aren’t going to know with certainty.

    I really hope he’s your cat.
