I found a fossil footprint a few years ago…?
The footprint is like a large birds footprint. It’s about 1 3/4 inches long and about 1 inch wide. The rock the footprint is in is very hard, very heavy, and about as smooth as a baseball, except where it was broken a long time ago (no jagged edges or anything). I found it in Hot Springs, Arkansas. I would show a pic, but it’s at my mothers house in the attic (I found it about 4 yrs ago) Can anybody tell me anything about what a fossil like this might be? Dinosaur or buzzard? 75 yrs old or 75,000,000 yrs old?
I have no Idea what kind of rock it is… It’s brown, very heavy, very hard, and I found it in arkansas

You need to show a photo and to say what kind of rock it is in.
No conclusions without evidence; that’s how science is.

I need data!
Go to your mom’s house and take a picture of that puppy…then post it for us to see.
BUT…assuming the rock was from the Hot Springs area, it can’t be a bird or dinosaur track – the rock there is Paleozoic in age, before dinosaurs and birds.
But maybe it’s not really rock, but hardened or dried sediment (maybe a mud)…in that case it might be a bird and fairly recent.

Take it to a paleontology museum and have experts look at it for you.
