Ideas for road trip from Houston?

Looking for ideas for road trip destinations with 13-year-old son in July. We’ve done southern Louisiana, San Antonio, Austin, Galveston, Dallas, and Hot Springs, AR and we’re looking for new ideas. We have 8 days in July to work with and I’ll be the only driver. Any ideas?
Oh, and we’ve done Memphis/Mississippi and Orlando as well.

    Caddo Lake in East Texas is nice, as is Inks Lake. Depending on your interests, there’s lots of sights around Corpus Christi, too.
