What can you feed a captive small frog?

My five year old son caught a small frog outside and wants to keep it but we haven’t the slightest clue what to feed it. We have it in a cage with his crabs at the jmoment and I would hate to see anything happen to any of them. I’m not sure if it helps to know that we’re located in the mid-south, Hot Springs, Arkansas.

  1. That frog is a wild animal, not a pet. It should not be kept in a cage with crabs, and it should not be kept as a pet. Why you have crabs in a cage, I don’t know.

If he wants a pet frog, take him to an exotic pet store, and buy a captive bred one, and find out how to look after it. You should never have a pet that wasn’t bred in captivity.

  2. i would not keep it in a cage with crabs
and frogs will eat flys, moths ..and possibly other insects
find out what kind of frog is it some will eat any bug or insect it see like beetles, sperders , flys , some bigger ones will eat baby mice !
you may need a bigger cage or just let it go free … but if your planning on keeping it take a picture of it and put that on here so we can look at it see what kind it is then you will know exactly what to feed it
