theshadowlands.net Arkansas is a state full of haunted battlefields and cemeteries, as well as many other bizarre happenings. Here are ten of the best in order: 1. Liberty Baptist Church, Batesville (Numerous figures in and around church especially in cemetery. Strange figures appear in pictures taken on grounds, also poltergeist activity.) 2. Railroad Tracks, Crossett (Disembodied lantern floats along tracks, disappearing when a person stands in front of them, to reappear behind them.) 3. Monroe County Courthouse, Clarendon (Strange lights across river where formerly black caretakers were lynched. Screaming voices heard in basement of court.) 4. Pet Cemetery, Gravel Ridge (Apparitions and cries of deceased pets throughout the cemetery.) 5. Mayberry Inn, Hot Springs (Strange screams from basement, and from elsewhere at midnight. Bloodstains and bizarre messages above fireplace in main room.) 6. Billy’s Bridge, Potter (Stones skip themselves across the water by themselves, and strange disembodied voices can be heard.) 7. Jenkin’s Ferry, Leola (Strange sounds like a battle being waged from surrounding woods, along with screaming cries from the river itself when nobody is there.) 8. Courthouse, Piggott. Professor of RVing, Jim Twamley takes you on a mini tour of Little Rock and Hot Springs, Arkansas
“We Bathe The World” has long been a popular slogan to advertise world-renowned Bath House Row, located in the downtown historical district of Hot Springs National Park. For years, a local businessman named Stueart Pennington had the idea of putting bath tubs on wheels and racing them down Central Avenue, in the heart of the bathing district. After Stueart’s recent death, city leaders decided to make his vision a reality and the 1st Annual Stueart Pennington Running of the Tubs was held in downtown Hot Springs. It was a huge success, with thousands of people turning out to cheer for their favorite tubs and enjoy the festive atmosphere.

I am looking for the composer of an opera “What Now Semyon?”, the leading role sung by mezzo soprano Vivica Geneaux. The composer’s name is Ravonna Martin. She lives in Hot Springs Arkansas, but I am unable to contact her. (She is also a former instructor of mine.) Does anyone know how to find her? The phone book has no listing and I do not have access to public records in that county.
