Was he just seeking a better life illegal immigrant charged as posing as Ark. deputy?

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. — A former Garland County Sheriff’s Department cadet arrested for allegedly impersonating a sheriff’s deputy and later determined to be an illegal alien was put through a background check when he applied to be a cadet at the age of 14 in 2005, Sheriff’s investigator Bill House said Friday.

Wilmar Arnulfo Perez, 20, of 156 Piney Loop, was charged Wednesday with a felony count of criminal impersonation of a law enforcement officer and misdemeanor counts of theft by receiving and possession of a blue light after he allegedly pulled over motorists dressed as a sheriff’s deputy and even issued tickets using a stolen ticket book.

House said Perez wore a black shirt with “SHERIFF” written in white letters, available at any Army/Navy store, and had badges, handcuffs and other items, including a bulletproof vest, that he is believed to have stolen while serving as a cadet before being ejected from the program in 2009.

House said that when he entered the cadet program a background check was conducted through the state computer system and he was found to have a valid Arkansas ID and “nothing else appeared.”

When he was arrested Wednesday, a hold was put on him by agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement who had determined he was in the country illegally, he said.

“This time, apparently using new technology they have now, when we ran his fingerprints through the FBI database who ran it through ICE, it showed there was a hold on him.”

House stressed the department does mandatory background checks on all employees, including the cadets.

Perez was still being held Friday on $10,000 bond, in addition to the hold, and is set to appear Nov. 1 in Hot Springs District Court. If convicted, he could face up to six years in prison on the felony charge and up to one year in jail on the misdemeanor counts.

House said earlier this week they began hearing about a suspect in a dark green Ford Taurus with red and blue LED lights pulling over motorists in the western part of the county.

He was also armed with what appeared to be a real handgun, but was actually a BB gun, he said.

Should I attend Arkansas State University or Henderson State University?

A little background information about me, my grades, ACT score, ect.
17 years old
11th Grade
4.0 GPA
ACT Score: 25
*English: 26
*Math: 25
*Reading: 26
*Science: 24

Involved in many extra curricular activities, part-time job at a grocery store… Just all of that good jazz
If I go to Henderson State with a 25, I can get $5000 a year plus if I receive the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Scholarship that’s an additional $5000 a year so that means that for all four years there, $40,000 would be automatically paid. Sounds good huh? But Henderson is located in Arkadelphia which is a very small town with nothing to do. It’s nearby the capital and a growing city, Hot Springs, but it’s just not next door. Oh, and Arkadelphia is only 1 hr 30 min away from where I stay
Arkansas State University is located in Jonesboro, AR, which has tons to do. It’s located in the delta, however. If I attend ASU, I could get the Arkansas Lottery Scholarship which is $5000 and I could receive up to $6000 which adds up to about $11,000 per year, $44,000 for four years. The only thing I hate about it is that I can’t come home whenever I realy want too because of gas because its 4 hours away from my hometown. That’s why I’m leaning toward Henderson: it’s small, close to home, but doesn’t have a “surrounding life” outside the campus… Please help me…

Somebody PLEASE answer. What can be done?

Brief background. Lost my youngest niece when she was in her mid 20′s to cancer. Hospitals didn’t want to help her because she had no insurance or money. Now, fast forward about 5 years later.

My oldest niece who is around 35 or 36 has been diagnosed with cancer as well. She has 3 young children. So far, the hospitals in the area have turned her away. What can I do to help her? How can I be her advocate? Who can I write, call, or otherwise beg to give her medical help? I can’t lose my other niece and I think my sister would just go over the deep end if she lost her only other daughter. I’m in Texas but I’m moving back to where they live. They live in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Any suggestions on where to go for help?
Thank you so much for any information you can offer.
