Alberich…very impressed that you recall Scheherazade being played at a festival 55 years ago. It must truly have been a memorable, magical experience. As a part-time resident of Hot Springs, I must admit that the musical festival is the highlight of my new life in the South. Musicians from all over the world come to perform and compete for two weeks straight. It adds even more flavor to an already wonderfully diverse resort town.
And i. jones, you mention participating in a jazz clinic… I can’t imagine what a terrific opportunity that must be. My first experience with a music camp was last month at Kinhaven in gorgeous, green Vermont where I watched young musicians practice, some under trees, some next to a pond, and some out in a meadow full of flowers. They performed every Sunday, dressed in all white… the most notable piece played being Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 5- outstanding!
