Most romantic room in TX, AR, LA, AL….?
I am looking for a romantic hotel room/cabin/condo in either Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, or even Oklahoma. My husband and I are going to go on vacation sometime in July and l want to have a romantic room! Let me know if you have stayed at one in one of those state or know of one!
We live in TX and have looked at driving to Hot Springs, anywhere in LA, Orange Beach/Gulf Shores, Alabama, even Pensacola, Florida, or just stay right here in TX.
We know we are going, but where to is still up in the air. I am trying to do some research as to where to go!
Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated!!!
Who is at fault when an auto is turning left and is hit by an on coming (forward moving) auto?
State: Arkansas, City: Hot Springs, County: Garland
Do you like the South? Which Southern states do you prefer and not prefer? Why?
I love the South…live there! Born and raised here, and plan to die here (but that’s in another 70+ years.) I’m reppin’ the Lone Star State of TEXAS!!!
My top picks are all of them, except VA, FL, and KY.
Each state in the South has its own character: Texas has more of a western can-do-will-do spirit; Arkansas has hot springs; Louisiana has Cajun culture and gumbo; Mississippi has gorgeous piney woods; Tennessee, country music; Alabama, Georgia, and the Carolinas have beaches and mountains; Kentucky has the bluegrass and horse farms; Virginia is packed with history; Oklahoma is a lot like Texas, except smaller. Florida is basically Cuba north.
Not to mention, the food, hospitality, neighborly people, and great climate make this the best region in which to live. However, VA and FL have too many yankee transplants, and are really boring outside the major tourist areas. I used to live in KY and did not find the people helpful or neighborly at all, and its winters are cold!
Why does Arkansas get such a bad rep? What did it ever do?
I don’t live there, but I live in Kentucky. I’ve been to AR three times and, I’ll admit, the state didn’t overly impress me. But, two times I just drove through but stopped at a hotel and the occasional convenience store. East of Little Rock is very boring with the Mississippi Delta lands, but west of L.R. is actually quite pretty, with the piney woods and gently rolling hills. Many of today’s millionaires (some of which are actually self-made) live there; one of the most famous national parks, Hot Springs, is there; one of the top 25 fastest-growing metro areas in the country is Northwest Arkansas; Governor Huckabee’s office has undertaken an aggressive TV campaign to promote economic development, some of the commercials of which have been seen on Fox News.
To Arkansans: What is great about your state, and what you like or dislike about it? I don’t want to have a “full opinion” about AR until I visit more, see more attractions, and get to know more people from there. Thanks!
